Our Foray Into Feeling Emotion

Welcome to our first attempt at blogging together! (Cheers are welcome) This week we wanted to bring you our shared thoughts on Post Secret. It changed our lives. On Wednesday the 23rd Frank Warren, the creator of Post Secret, came to our campus and gave a talk and shared some secrets with us. We went into this event just as skeptical and cynical as usual, but over the course of ninety minutes we were transfixed by Frank's genuine demeanor. We don't know what we were expecting, but it certainly was not as cliched and run of the mill as we thought it would be. First Frank went through some 'banned' secrets from past Post Secret books which were generally hilarious, but for various reasons couldn't be published. Eventually Frank opened up the floor to questions/stories/secrets from the audience. This is where the night really began for us. It seems to us that simply reading the Sunday Secrets every week is a fun past time, but falls short of actually affecting our emotions (because we're generally apathetic people, as you already know). However, hearing some of our fellow classmates admit their secrets publicly and without anonymity had a profound effect on us. Rock was sufficiently moved; enough to even admit her own secret. It seems one of us is a huge fan of Shark Week (44 weeks to go, in case you're wondering). When leaving the event and walking to our off campus apartment with friends, our cynical mindset had flown the coop. We were admitting secrets left and right. It was a disgusting display of emotion that we could not regret more. Somehow Frank Warren's authenticity had inadvertently entered our cold, icy, black hearts and warmed them. It only lasted the rest of that night, but now when we read Post Secret every sunday, we will feel that twinge of emotion that Frank brought to our lives.

Post Secret is our number 1 favorite guilty pleasure and we're happy to recommend it to you!

You're Welcome,
Stone & Rock
